Galesti, a climate friendly commune
The overall objective of the project is to prevent climate change by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through: energy efficiency improvement measures, the use of renewable energy sources at the level of the local community of Galesti commune and informing the local population and the population of Niraj micro-region (approx 30,000 people) regarding these measures.

Replication of project activities
After the information session delivered by Focus Eco Center to the mayors from neighboring communes, the mayors decided to form an association "Valea Nirajului". This association developed a strategy on using energy efficient bulbs for public lighting in the area, using the SGP model. This strategy is currently under implementation in three more communes.
Project sustainability
The City Hall pf Galesti commune will secure the maintenance of the public lighting system, the community members will continue using the solar dryers and the biogas station will be functional for next 30 years, with adequate maintenance.The NGO (Focus Eco Center) will continue to support to the local community in multiplying the knowledge and experience gained within SGP and will also promote the valorisation of the local products. project.
