Rainwater Harvesting and Conservation Agriculture: Demonstration of Best Practices in Climate Change Mitigation
The project will be implemented in the rural areas of Senzani-Balaka district and Lisungwi-Neno district that have potential in developing irrigation systems that benefit from flood waters and run-off harvesting techniques with emphasis on spate irrigation techniques from the ephemeral rivers(Phwazi and Kolumbe) streams.These areas are subjected to poverty,food insecurity and vulnerable climatic shocks but have a potential to make a living from the floods that cause distressful life in their communities.The project will provide an altenative livelihood to charcoal burning and selling.

Projects main objective
The projects main objective is to improve the livelihoods of the communities by increasing their resilience to the effects of climate change.
