Community Based Sustainable Land Resource Management through Adapting Climate Change
Community Based Sustainable Land Resource Management through Adapting Climate Change
Due to natural geological process, natural disaster and human heavy impact on land use for agricultural production and utilization of forest resources and other rural/urban development process, Nepal?s precious natural hilly lands are degrading day by day.

Like many hilly districts, Baglung district is also prone to land degradation. The proposed project area Kandebash, Malma and Hatiya VDCs of Baglung are severely hit by landslide and erosion. The incidence includes the big landslides in 1997 (i.e. large landslides caused destruction of big cultivable land in Ward No.3 of Malma VDC). The landslide destroyed the arable land producing tons of wheat, rice and maize plot and the area became desert and became unsuitable for the agricultural activities. The similar event happened in Kandebash VDC and 10 families have been displaced and the heavy loss of properties and agricultural products occurred. Likewise, forest area was also destroyed by massive fire. The area was later dominated by Eupatorium thus disturbing the pasture/grassland.

In some places, the land slipping was still seen, hence posing threat to downstream villages. The planning grant thus aim to develop full proposal by involving local people so as to prevent the landslide and land slip.
