FTFG SUSTAINABLE LAND MANAGEMENT
FTFG has contiguously planted over 300 acres and managed to harvest 125 tonnes of fresh mangoes in 2009 and 500 tonnes in 2010 respectively. 80% of the already planted mango trees have matured and the yield during the 2011-2012 season is expected to be quite high, which would warrant FTFG to start processing of the fresh mangoes into mango juice and dried organic mangoes.
The project is to up-scale this ongoing enterprise to systematically achieve the following:
? Expand the acreage of the mango orchards by another 100 acres so that the production of mango juice and processing of organic dried mangoes becomes sustainable as a business throughout the year.
? Start processing mango juice and organic dried mangoes hence achieve a value addition status.
? Start FTFG Off-Season Training with the following aims:
Training farmers in:
? Organic Farming
? Quality Control
? Value Addition
? Market Research
? Water harvesting for irrigation
? Presentation of products to the market/ packaging products
? Environmental protection
? Bookkeeping/Record keeping
