The organisation from Nieuw Nickerie aims to develop the Corantijn beach in Nieuw Nickerie to a tourist attraction for both locals and others. The area shall receive a thorough cleaning and face-lift, where a play yard will be located and a tourist shop. A waste management plan shall be incorporated, as well as an awareness program to keep the place clean.

Notable Community Participation
Community of Nickerie is involved, since the Corantijn strand is a very popular site to visit during the weekends to leisure. The community will receive awareness on keeping the area clean. Also, the location is being used for a number of other purposes, there is a bar, a tourist shop, a sunday market, a soccer field, as well as the location to embark on the so-called Back track route towards Guyana
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The Corantijn strand is already a popular tourist site, for both local and non-local visitors. The tourist shop and bar and the sunday market will receive increased number of visitors. In the tourist shop, which is operated by the project applicant, women both from Nickerie as well as from Apoera (Indigenous community further upstream along the Corantijn river), sell their different handicraft products.
