“Healthy mother and children”
“Healthy mother and children”
NGO will establish a community owned/managed green zone, about 1 km from Gobi-Ugtaal soum centre in the north to demonstrate community ability to conduct combined nature protective and livelihoods enhancement activities that will ultimately contribute to land degradation rehabilitation efforts in Gobi, be used as a natural shield against desertification and sand and snow storms to save livestock over spring and winter, and to lead to raising awareness among local residents of great possibilities of enhancing community resilience to climate changes effects and natural disasters.

The NSC members supported the project which aimed to reduce soil degradation, sand movement and dust by establishing a forest stripe/green zone with some fruit trees to support their livelihoods. It is noted that the most of the community members are family heading women and a green zone, whether it be tiny or large, must play an essential role in steppe and Gobi regions for sustaining life, fixing sand movement and combating desertification in that particular place.
