Construction of a biogas plant for Kibosho Seminary
CONTEXT:
Kibosho Seminary which has a total of 195 students plus teachers who gets meals which has been cooked using fuel wood has the potential of using biogas as a source of energy and reduces the use of fuel wood and charcoal while reduced the seminary costs.

Kibosho Senior Seminary has about 25 cows, and 160 pigs which together can produce enough biogas to be used for cooking at the seminary. The Seminary has already made a study on the feasibility of using biogas at the area through Alternative Energy Contractors LTD who will be constructing the biogas plant. The biodigester to be constructed will have the capacity of 230m3.



GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
? The Objective of the project is to Reduce the use of fuel wood
? To cut down the costs of firewood and charcoal used by the Seminary
? To serve the environment by reducing tree cutting
? To act as a demonstration on the use of biogas for the nearby communities and to contribute in their household economy

PROJECT ACTIVITIES:
? Construction of the Biogas plant
? Construction of drainage line
? Construction of post treatment reactor
? Installation of gas line stove and the oven
? Training
? Plumbing work

PROJECT BENEFITS:
? It will reduce the: use of fuel wood and charcoal
? It will reduce the administrative costs for Kibosho Seminary as less money will be put in the purchase of fuel wood
? It will serve as a demonstration area for the communities leaving close to the Seminary
