SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF THE WETLAND PROTECTED AREA OF INTERNATIONAL IMPORTANCE IN STOLIN DISTRICT, BREST OBLAST.
The project aims to strengthen the sustainability of wetlands that have Iinternational protection status.
To achieve this goal the following tasks need to be addressed :
1. To create the conditions for the development of service activities in the field of environmental education, eco-tourism administration of the reserve "Middle Pripyat" in Stolin district boundaries;
2. To upgrade buildings with energy-efficient technology for the operation of environmental education center, demonstration of applied environmental technologies;
3. Undertake outreach activities aimed at raising awareness of the local population about the importance of preservation of unique natural complexes of the reserve "Middle Pripyat", the need for environmentally sound use of resources.
4. Develop and produce a combined arrangement of environmental-sky route based on the assessment of natural, historical and cultural heritage reserve "Middle Pripyat" and a buffer zone in the Stolin district.
Expected results of the project
- Created the material and information base for environmental education of schoolchildren and tourists in the reserve of national importance "Pripyat", the demonstration of environmental technologies. Coverage of schoolchildren who visit the visitor center reserve 70% of the Stolin district, and 30% Luninets district. During the Project 2000 students.
- Extended visit to the reserve center, equipped with modern heating system of the building, insulation carried out the building with modern heat insulation, introduced a system of low-power illumination facilities, reduced emission of CO2 into the atmosphere, by reducing the power consumption of the network on water heating.
- Increased levels of environmental education of local people, students and Luninets Stolin districts.
- Improved material base of government preserve, stable functioning management body of Reserve, which has an international protection status.
