Promotion of the use of solar water heaters in public buildings
Solar water heating can significantly decrease energy costs for homeowners as conventional water heating systems typically account for 25% of the energy consumed in homes. In Albania a standard system optimized for a family of 4 can bring savings of 80% in annual water heating bill. Solar water heating can be also cost effective in many institutional settings such as, recreation centers, hospitals, hotels and. Payback often occurs in as few as 5 years.
This project will be implemented in the city orphanage in Saranda and it will consist in the installation of a set of solar thermal panels that will supply sanitary hot water for showers in this building.
