The Initiation of Cisadane watershed management through Youth community-based
GOAL : In 2012, the environment of Cisadane upstream area in Pasir Buncir Village, Caringin District and Wates Jaya Village, Cigombong District, Bogor Regency is more conserved ecologically through community participation and economic activity that is more environmentally friendly, especially the youth group in the Upper and Middle Basin of Cisadane.
OBJECTIVE 1 : The economic income of the youth in the upstream of Cisadane basin is improved
INDICATOR :
1. An increase of income of each member of the group by 50% from the beginning of the project resulting from the activities of the group
2. The presence of processed agricultural products produced continuously by youths group in the upstream
3. The presence of ecotourism activities (responsible tourism) in the upstream area of Cisadane basin, managed by youth groups 2 times in 1 year
ACTIVITIES :
1. Field surveys before and after the project has finished on income groups. The survey was conducted through questionnaire and interview methods to target groups.
2. Series of entrepreneurial training for groups of youth (male and female) in the upstream area for 4 times. This training includes:
- Introduction and understanding of social entrepreneurship
- The principles of entrepreneurship
- Training of production (services and products)
- Training of packaging
- Training of marketing
- Business ethics
- Training on the connection between entrepreneur and the preservation of the environment
3. Intensive facilitation in the management of banana (kapas banana) chips business, coffee business, ecotourism and other businesses that affect to ecological sustainability of the upstream area of Cisadane basin to youth group in upstream area is carried out regularly every month. Business of processed products such as banana chips will emphasize on the use of local raw material type (kapas banana) which is now rarely found in the locations because many have been cut down by the people.
4. Participated in various exhibitions for promotion (goods and services) of youth groups products in various public events for 2 times.
5. Conduct specific discussions on savings and loan institutions for 6 times. Discussions cover a critical awareness to the people on the importance of having a joint movement to build local economic independence through a series of community economic education, thus new awareness to build savings and loan institutions is built
OBJECTIVES 2 : Participation of the youth in the conservation of the upstream area of Cisadane basin is increased
INDICATOR :
1. Knowledge of members of the group on solutions and activities to conserve the upstream of Cisadane basin is increased, proven by their pre-test and post-test.
2. The presence of joint action undertaken by the youth in the upstream of Cisadane basin to conserve the upstream area of Cisadane basin for 4 times
ACTIVITIES :
1. Implementing NGOBRAS (Chit-Chat with Cisadane Youth) on a regular basis, bimonthly.
NGOBRAS is held to make this discussion forum as a media to exchange information, skills and knowledge in general. NGOBRAS will invite resource persons according to the need of the group and conducted both in the area of youth group and outside the group.
2. Thematic Field School: waste management and conservation of local biodiversity, particularly local varieties of high economic value and ecological for 3 times.
3. Joint action as much as 4 times in form of an integrated waste management initiatives. This joint action consists of joint waste management, mass planting, and making a documentary film about the activities.
EXPECTED OUTPUT :
1. Community participation, starting from the youth, on environment conservation especially in the upper area of Cisadane basin is increased
2. Job creation and community income is increased, especially for the youth group, thus their activities focus on the ecological preservation of the upper watershed Cisadane
3. Agricultural practices that support the conservation of local biota (plants and fish) is increased
4. There is support to the upstream community given by the community in the central area of Cisadane basin in form of purchasing products produced by upstream communities, and the presence of school visits from Bogor City to conduct field trips or social events and even recreational in the upstream area
5. Public participation in conservation efforts of the upstream area of Cisadane basin is increased
PARTICIPANTS AND / OR PROJECT BENEFICIARIES
Directly : 1. Youth in Lengkong and Sungapan Village, Pasir Buncir Village (Satria Muda Group consist of 23 people).
2. Youth in Ciwaluh and Lengkong Girang Village, Wates Jaya Village (Senandung Nada Hijau Group consist of 6 people)
3. Students in Harapan Bangsa junior and senior high school, Cigombong District who join in Harbapala Group consist of 15 people
Indirectly : One-third of the people and government in Pasir Buncir and Wates Jaya village (4000 people) and in district level, Harapan Bangsa junior high and high school students (250 people), people living in the central and / or downstream of Cisadane basin.
