Development of the organic farming and preservation of the owl (Tyto alba) as a natural enemy in the District of Ngawi
GOAL : The strategy of organic farming development by empowering groups of biological agents and owl conservation along with stakeholders is formulated.
Objective 1 : Community and government at the village level understand each other that owl is a Rodent Control
Indicators : The emergence of understanding about the importance of using natural enemies in pests handling (plant destruction organisms /OPT), The formulation of rodent control using biological agents and owl conservation, The data of owl conservationist groups
Activities : Focus Discussion (FGD) involving elements of the government at the village level and farmers' groups and groups of biological agents in Beran village, Ngawi district. FGDs are conducted by collecting representative members of five farmers groups and village staffs of the two villages. It will be carried out in the second month with 50 participants. Before FGD is held, meetings in level / in each is conducted because each has regular monthly meetings.
Objective 2 The ability of farmers groups in biological agents development and owl conservation is increased
Indicators Farmers know and understand the importance of biological agents development and owl conservation, Farmers are able to understand the nature and behavior of owls in their corresponding region, Farmers are able to maintain the presence of owls in their area
Activity Training on Method of biological agents development and owls maintenance
This training is conducted in the third month with representatives from member of five farmers groups from two villages with 50 farmers as participants
Objective 3 The realization of the Grand Design of Biological Agents Development and Owls Conservation.
Indicators There is a Planning Document of biological agents development and owls conservation as natural enemies, There is a Draft of Village Regulations on Owls Protection and Conservation.

Objective 4 Program runs according to the time schedule and in accordance with the goal :
Program monitoring and evaluation is documented, Weekly reports are developed, Final report is developed

EXPECTED RESULTS
1. The understanding between community and government at the village level that owl is a Rodent Control.
2. Increasing ability of rice farmers on the development of biological agents and in the maintainance and management of owl, the natural enemy / pest control for rats in paddy fields.
3. Formulation of Grand Design on Biological Agents Development and Owls Conservation as Natural Enemy of Rodents.
4. Formulation of monitoring and evaluation report that is in accordance with the goal.

Direct : Two Locations which are Jururejo and Beran Village in Ngawi District
Beran Village: Sri tani farmers with 60 members, Land Area: 85 Ha, Ingas Rejo I farmers with 50 members, Land Area: 128 ha, Ingas Rejo II farmers with 175 members, Land Area: 131 ha; Jururejo Village: Madyo Asri farmers with 109 members, Land Area: 82 Ha, Sri Rejeki farmers with 160 members, Land Area: 160 ha
Indirect : Farmers in general in Ngawi District and Agriculture Office Ngawi District
(The planting area within one year is 15,640 Hectares. If it is converted in 0,5 ha area/ person, then nearly covers 10,000 farmers per season, in Ngawi District)
