Revival of endemic species in Alakol system of lakes and development of pond farming
Project aim:
Biodiversity conservation and restoration of the fish endemic species as marinka, carp, Balkhash perch in Alakol-Sasikkol lakes system. As well as development and launching the work of fish ponds farms that doesn?t harm natural resources and aimed on increasing fish endemic species resources, decreasing poaching load on water reservoir.
Project tasks:
- Development and implementation of sustainable model of development and work of the pond fish farms with the aim to revive and conserve fish fauna endangered species as marinka, carp and Balkhash perch
- Creation of the fish combined feed base for deciding a points with fish endemic species reproduction and conservation.
- Deciding a social-economic issues, opening new jobsites, improving locals? scale of living
Project results:
- Increased locals? well-being and scale of living, locals got and are being got additional income
- Opened 16 jobsites, decided an issues with locals employment, locals trained on new specialties

- Created pond farm, ponds for fish keeping
- Decreased loads on natural resources, nature protection activities improved, decreased poaching, created better conditions for nesting, molt and feed migrating fish-eating birds

Notable Community Participation
Locals participate in protective activities, combating poaching and as the main thing ? in process of growing hatchling. Locals are the main implementers of the project and involved in all activities on fish and birds revival and conservation.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Locals, pupils and students were involved in nature protection activities. The photo story of all project activities was published. Different audiences were informed on project implementation via mass media and Internet and by other means. Published articles on region?s environmental problems and on condition of fish resources, on the progress of natural objects inspections as well as project progressing.
