Rehabilitating the Hawassa Lake Haik Dar Sub City Shore and Clean and Green Hawassa City for Better Environment
The project aims to strengthen volunteer youth participation to implement environment-friendly protection activities and to ensure sustainable lake environment development through planting various eco-friendly indigenous trees and ornamental shrub trees at the degraded lake shore; implementing environmental protection policy and preventing the various pollution sources from the City jointly with city environmental protection authority; providing sufficient updated information about environmental issues to local community and preventing clearing of trees, bushes and birds; expanding and introducing multipurpose tree at household level to increase the income of the community who are living near the lake catchments; protecting the lake and its eco system from various pollutants /salvage and vehicle washers; rehabilitating the lake environment and cleaning the city canal as well as raising the awareness level of people about the lake environment and replacing the dead trees and replanting.
