Watershed Management and Preservation of Gbongboru Stream in Gbongboru Village, Baruteen L.G.A., Kwara State
The Gbongboru Village Stream which is the only source of water in Ogbogboru Village has been shrinking gradually in the last seven years and dries up during the dry season. This project seeks to prevent the stream and its associated biodiversity from extinction. An initial scoping and baseline study would be carried out for proper documentation of the challenges faced by the community. A borehole will be provided to reduce the rate at which the stream water is drawn, used and the community?s dependency on the stream for water. The community would be trained on simple water and biodiversity conservation and management of Non Timber Forest Products as well as simple modern farming techniques to boost crop production.
