Climate change adaptation Johanna Margaretha
With the planning grant, a baseline will be performed on the climate change and livelihood context. Also, a project proposal will be prepared together with the community. The objective of this project proposal will be to support the community with their tourism diversification. At this point, the community provides tours to the mangrove and wetlands right next to where they are living. However, due to climate change, their income generation from the tourism will affected.

Community members participated in the Red Cross vulnerability assessment, by attending meetings, and also attending interviews.
Policy Impact
Red Cross has been updating the District Commissioners office of the activities in Johanna Margaretha, and one of the members of the District Commissnioners office in Johanna Margaretha was actually the contact person for Red Cross.
Red Cross is also involved in other communities in Suriname regarding disaster readiness and performing vulnerability assessments.
