In the national parks of Guinea Bissau, the team of guards is small and poorly equipped to conduct surveillance missions in protected areas. The parks are inhabited and people fish, hunt and make agriculture. The exploitation of resources has intensified and is no longer sustainable. The main reason is linked to the exploitation of resources that is held by non-residents. To reinforce the monitoring of protected areas and defend the strategical resources, this project aims to create and equip a local team that will support oversight of fishing on the river Rio Grande de Buba. The team is comprised of local fishermen who want to protect the river against illegal fishing made by fishermen from the neighboring countries.
