Ban Namhouang is one of many villages that classified as poorest village in Med district, Vientiane province. The village locates in the heart of riches forest that is serving natural resources to survive of peoples? livelihood. Many of those are highly economize, for instant, non-timber forest products (NTFPs) like palm seeds. Livelihoods are highly conventional and dependency to natures. Main sources of livelihood are shifting cultivation and NTFPs collections. Nevertheless; the degradation of natural resources due to the unsustainable employ is not driving peoples in Namhouang village out of poverty. In addition, the isolation adds difficulties in access external supports. Project awarded through SGP will focus its investment in adding value to the NTFPs; increasing the effectiveness of upland agricultures products; sorting out livelihood alternatives that put into effect and sustainable natural resources use and in any efforts support the accessibilities of natural resources management know how information?s for villagers. All these will be achieved through community-based approach.
