Palm Seed Sustainable Marketing for Livelihood Alternative
There are 279 people; living in 48 families in the targeted village called Ban Tasoummai, who?s of those are mountainous Akha (Ekor) ethnic group living along Laos-Myanmar border. The village has established more 40 years in the middle of natural resource rich mountains valley and locates 26 km from district administration center and 129 away from Louangnamtha provincial administration center. Upland cultivation and livestock are keys livelihood, the main agriculture is subsistence and natural dependency the NTPFs (cardamom; ginger seeds; and especially are wild palm seeds?.) collection after harvesting is important as income alternated supplements. Promoting sustainable use of those economic potential products are key focus of the project through market linkage and sort out possibilities to value and finally project should facilitate the deduction of deforestation for upland rice cultivation and securing to food.

Gender Focus
This project can give the direct benefits and indirect ways to the gender in the involvement with the project implementation for instance: the woman is a mobile bank saver of the household who can manage the expenses very well. Those activities are (1) handicraft which uses the natural resources are available at community level such as rattan to produce the sofa and other furniture; (2) sell NTFPs such as palm fruit, mushroom, bamboo shoots, ginger, cardamom and others to local market and through the middle dealer for income generation to household.
