Community-Based Forest protection and Management Project
The project aims to promote and support formation and operationalization of community forest protection and management associations for participatory forest management; improve sustainability of reserved forest areas and indigenous and community conservation areas; improve awareness of forest adjacent communities on benefits accruing from forests and watch-dog their forests; improve food security and direct dependency on forest products of beneficiary households; improve local forest management regulations put in place through establishing six community forest protection and management associations, hiring improved agricultural practices for better productivity of beneficiary households, creating both on farm and off farm alternative sources of income for poor forest adjacent households, increasing awareness of forest communities? on participatory forest management, reserving forest lands for protection with community and local government?s initiative, and putting regulations on forest and semi-forest coffee management in place.
