Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
A general sensitization meeting was held in each of the six beneficiary communities. Traditional communicators were co-op to sing songs about climate change to make the message clearer and more relevant to the community members.
40 community representatives received training on the concept of climate change, its effects and adaptation strategies. 3 radio panel discussions were broadcasted over the local FM radio station to further enlighten the communities.
Notable Community Participation
Following sensitization events, the VDC in all 6 beneficiary communities' took on the role of mobilizing the community members and this resulted in a large turnout for the tree planting events. To sustain success, subcommittees were set up for purposing of monitoring and looking after the trees for survival.
