Sensitization on community forest management and tree planting for environmental conservation
The project aims to conserve and protect the existing forest cover in Kiang West District for biodiversity conservation and sustain the socioeconomic benefits derived by the local communities.The project will sponsor sensitization and awareness creation among 28 villages and build their capacities on sustainable forest management principles and practices. The project also intends to plant 40, 000 trees with the forest in a bid to increase the forest cover of the district.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
A 2 day training on forest management techniques and environmental conservation was held for members of the community including the village head and VDC members.
Gender Focus
The NGO implementing this project in all the 5 communities has 65% of its members as women and the rest are men. A subcommittee was selected by each community for the entire management of the project and it includes men, youth, village authorities and women members.
