Project aim:
Biodiversity conservation of Naurzum Natural Reserve and decrease of land degradation in Kostanay oblast
Project tasks:
- Environmental education of local community (farmers, state organizations, local inhabitants) on the ways of biodiversity conservation, organic methods on decreasing land degradation in Kostanay area.
- Introduction of sweet clover crop rotation and bee pollination as method of biodiversity conservation and decrease of land degradation in Kostanay oblast, including Naurzum Natural Reserve
Project results:
- Pollinated 125 species or 18% of Naurzum Natural Reserve?s flora
- The total area of restored lands after sweet clover crop rotation and bee pollination ? 610 ha
- The total area of restored lands after sweet clover crop rotation and bee pollination and seed multiplication project for 5 years in the region ? 20 000 ha
- Educated 180 people
- Number of farms that use sweet clover crop rotation and bee pollination ? 6 farms
- Number of farms that use sweet clover crop rotation and bee pollination after the project for 5 years in the region ? 30 farms
- Number of project informational and educational meetings ? 40 events
- Number of given by expert consultations ? 600
- Number of informational seminars ? 6

?The bee center of Kustanai?, local beekeepers from Naurzum region are the initiators of the project, give their apiaries and specialists for the project needs. Locals are the main project implementers.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
For community?s environmental education several publications and TV-spots were issued by mass media describing possible ways on nature-conserving activities in bee-farming.
