Supporting Forest Protection and Area Closure in Galo Hiraphe kebele
Tne project aims to enhance the ecological service, economic benefit and social sustainability of the area by conducting different physical and biological conservation measures and by creating alternative income generating activities through minimizing degradation of the deforested 200 ha of land in Galo Hiraphe kebele by constructing 25km of soil bund and 25 km of stone bund on 100 ha of land; planting 250,000 acacia salign tree and grass species thereby rehabilitating 100 ha of land; increasing capacity of members in the CBO by providing training to 200 people focusing on improving their natural resources conservation and management skills; improving the livelihood of the local community by creating IGAs from cattle fattening, bee farm, and tree seedling raising for sale; and providing drinking water access to 450 people in the project area by constructing 5000m3 capacity pond within the project duration.
