Land Degradation and Sustainable Forest Management
The project aims to improving the long-term ecosystem degradation of Lake Shalla through physical and biological soil and water conservation measures and income-generating activities as alternative means of improving livelihoods of local community through rehabilitating the degraded ecosystem of lake Shalla and minimizing the destruction of natural resources on 8.2 ha in the project area, by planting indigenous tree species; and increasing income of CBO on sustainable base through generation of alternative means of income such as beekeeping, nursery site establishment and raising of multipurpose trees for sale and ecotourism activities.
