Community empowerment for climate - proofing rural livelihoods in Ngabu-Makoko area
Mabungwa and Mwanambweri hills form part of Matandwe forest reserve which is one of the main catchment areas of the Shire - Zambezi water way project.Most of the streams from these hills empty their waters into Nyankotola.Nyachipere and Malindi rivers that run across T/As Makoko and Ngabu respectively.This causes infrastructural,crop and livestock damage to communities.The streams discharge the debris and silt into Shire river.

The primary objective for the project is to:
-increase community awareness on disaster preparedness
-increase the use of food energy saving technologies at community level
-Reduce deforestation and promote reforestation activities of the exotic and natural woodlands.

Specific Outcomes:
-Increased community awareness on disaster mitigation and preparedness.
-Increaswed use of wood energy saving technologies at community level
-Reduced deforestation and increased reforestation activities.
