Conserving Biodiversity while Improving the Livelihoods of the Residents in the Cockpit Country with the Development of Eco-Tourism Plans
Extensive illegal logging, charcoal burning, and parrot capturing, slash-and-burn agriculture, heavy pesticide usage and the very huge and immediate threat of bauxite mining are harsh realities facing the cockpit country. The project seeks to create a sustainable solution for the protection of endemic species and the conservation of Jamaica?s Cockpit Country while providing alternative livelihood and foster mutual stewardship of the environment between both locals and clientele
