Demonstration of possibilities of reduction of land degradation process and related emergencies in mountain area of Dzhungar Alagau (on the example of Tekeli and nearby villages)
Project aim:
Activization of local communities of Tekeli city and neighboring villages to solving problems of lands degradation and connected risks of emergency situations in mountain areas of Djungar Alatau
Project tasks:
- Increasing environmental culture of local communities of Tekeli city and neighboring villages Sirimbet, Eshkolmes by conducting informational and educational activities and involving akimat specialists and emergency departments of the city and district in project activities
- Realization of pilot initiatives of local communities of Tekeli city and neighboring villages Sirimbet, Eshkolmes aimed to decreasing land degradation, erosion processes and decreasing risks of emergency situations in mountain areas
Project results:
- Increased awareness of Tekeli dwellers and villages of Eskeldy district on climate change risks and importance of forests conservation
- Held 5 meetings, 12 seminars and 2 round tables
- About 700 persons got environmental education: Tekeli dwellers and villagers of Sirimbet, Eshkolmes settlements, akimat representatives, emergency situations specialists, forestry specialists and youth and NGO representatives
- Realized 5-6 pilot initiatives that demonstrate different approaches to solving existing problems
