Enhancing Awareness of Communities for sustainable use of renewable energy
Implementing NGO/CBO: Thai Baan Association (TBA): Originally established as Farmers Community Institute in 2006 , then registered in 2011 as an association with mandates to promote education process for self-reliance of communities, support community-based research and knowledge management for dissemination, and coordinate with public, academic and NGO sectors to ensure self-reliant community development.
Location of project: Agricultural area situated in a plain of Chee River Basin in Wapipathum District. The location is grid-connected readily supplied with other kinds of fossil-based energy such as canned gas and gasoline.
Target Population: 1,680 families from 12 villages in the location the majority of which depends upon agricultural practice (mainly paddy and husbandry) and fossil fuel for livelihood activities . 50 families are project direct participants. The per capita income is THB: 28,000.
Main Activities to be carried out:
1.Launching capacity building through training & learning centre
2. Launching demonstration of activities: biogas construction
3. Launching dissemination of project results
Anticipated Results and Indicators:
1. Increased capacity & awareness of at least 50 % of target population witnessed by ability to establish renewable energy group continuously monitor and following up of activities and put into practical use
2. Compilation of at least one local curriculum on renewable energy to be applied in local schools
3. Reduction of CO2 emission (LPG) at approximately 7 tons/years from 50 biogas pits
4. At least 2 dissemination materials being produced for communication to wider public
