GOAL :
The manifestation of legal and community-based resource management in independent and sustainable manners in the area of Maratua Island.
OBJECTIVES
Objective 1 :
Institutional Strengthening
Indicators :
1.People understanding toward program initiative is developed, at least in 2 out of 4 villages which are Bohesilian; Payung-payung, Teluk Harapan and Teluk Alulu.
2.Active community participation in the implementation of the program is established, at least 100 people of da'kayu akkal institutions and community in Maratua island participate.

Capacity Development and Building
Indicator :
Communities/groups? capacity that is capable to do conservation and ecotourism activities in Maratua island is established.

1. Waste Management Training
2. Training on crafts from recycled materials
The purpose of this activity are:
1. To motivate people to seek alternatives of economic activities, to give understanding and skill in utilizing waste from wood and coconut shells that can be used as souvenirs for tourists who come visiting Berau Regency, especially in Maratua island.
2. To improve the quality thus the products have competitive advantages in the market.
3. Training on Local Culinary Processing
4. Cross Learning to the Network of Ecotourism Village (JED) Bali
Objective 3 : Business and Conservation Development
Indicators
1. The presence of at least 2 groups of conservation-based business
2. Both conservation areas in forest and marine, at least in 2 locations agreed by the community in Maratua island are developed.
Activities
1. The presence of at least 2 groups of conservation-based business
2. Both conservation areas in forest and marine, at least in 2 locations agreed by the community in Maratua island are developed.
1. Drafting of business plan
2. Encouraging the establishment of Village Conservation Area (Land and Marine).
3. Constructing Demonstration plot of Coral Reefs Transplantation
4. Developing ecotourism attraction package.
This activity is a strategy to introduce initiatives that have been done before through promotional packages and ecotourism attractions
5. Building a network through information media (website, brochures and Ecotourism guide books).
Objective 4 : Monitoring and Evaluation
Indicators : 1. The presence of a monitoring and evaluation standard that has become community/ group consensus.
2. Communities are able to perform monitoring and evaluation independently.

EXPECTED OUTPUT
1. Community?s better understanding on the meaning and importance of biodiversity conservation for a sustainable life (ecological, economic and socio-cultural);
2. Community is able to manage marine resources in a sustainable manner with the support of institutional strengthening and capacity building;
3. Presence of environment-friendly business type based on products and services from Maratua island;
4. Becoming a model of outer islands management in relation to the national defense strategy.
