Improve community’s livelihood through ecologically sound agricultural production system and strengthening the community forestry management
The project is aiming at building capacity of Community Forestry Committee to prepare 15 management plan of SvayChek community forestry to conserve 2,135.80 ha community forest through preparing 15 years Community Forestry Management Plans, produce 24 cement poles to demarcation Community Forestry areas, construction of 1, 500 meters x 5m of forest fire-road with labor contribution from community members. In addition project also planting 30,000 trees in the degraded forest areas in the community forestry. To build resilience livelihood of community members, project will introduced multi-farming purpose, Farmer Field School and 6 Bio-digester.
Goal and Objectives:
This project is to contribute in improving community?s livelihood through ecologically sound agriculture production system and strengthening the community forestry management to reduce climate change with sustainability.
Objectives
a) At the end of 2014, crop yield and productivity of the 240 rural farmers in target villages will be improved through natural home gardening and using of organic and bio-digester waste.
b) At the end of 2014, 778 community forestry members? livelihood will be changed through sustainability of community forestry management planning and strengthening capacity of community forestry committees.
Project outputs:
1) Twenty four (24) natural home garden demonstration farms were established in 6 target villages
2) Six (6) farmer field schools equal 18 sessions were prepared in 6 target villages with 240 participants.
3) Six (6) SHGs and one (1) village environment extension group were established in 6 target villages.
4) Six (6) bio-digesters were installed in 6 target villages to extend to other beneficiaries.
5) The 15 years management plan of Svay Chek CF were prepared and recognized by Forestry Administration.
6) 30,000 trees were planted in the degraded forest areas.
7) 24 poles and 1 sign board were established to set CF the boundary.
8) One fire road with 1,500 m long and 5 m wide was constructed.
9) Nine (9) CF committee leaders were trained on management skill, leadership, forestry law, and forest regularization.
