The radio programs used have been developed by Stichting Projekta (financed by Conservation International Suriname) in 2009. The radio programs focused on explaining what climate change is and the impact on livelihoods and the biodiversity of the rainforest. Conservation International has given us approval to use these radio programs, which were developed in Sranang tongo and Aucaans. In this project, we will update and expand the radio programs, adding another local language, Saramacaans (Maroon language). Also, the training for radio personnel will be a joint initiative together with UNDP Suriname, who will finance this part out of their current programme 'Reducing disparities in access to information and services among hinterland communities in Suriname through the use of ICTs'.

The training for the radio personnel aims to have more educational radio programs developed, and that these radio programs can be broadcasted. When the radio programs are broadcasted, all the listeners of the radio programs will be educated.

Through the broadcasting of radio messages regarding the climate change impacts, the communities within the radio Pakaatie range will receive awareness on climate change impact on their livelihoods.
