«Rehabilitation of degraded pasture lands of the “Too-Jailoo” plot of Toguz-Bulak a/o, Leylek rayon through planting tree and bush vegetation included in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan».
Toguz Bulak a/o of the Leilek Rayon is located in the Batken oblast in the South of Kyrgyzstan. The project is planned to be realized in the pasture territory called "Too Jailoo" (Mountain pastures) which is degraded due to overuse of area and breeding cattle there. As a result of degraded pastures there is no any vegetation growing in the steep hill, and the hill suburbs there are erosion and landslide. Within the year of 2012 there were more than 30 cases of disasters registered in the Leilek Rayon.
The project idea is in restoration of degraded land through establishing a demonstrational plot (1 hectare) for rehabilitation of natural grass and planting local species of tree and bush vegetation including species listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan on the territory with an area of 1 hectare. The project is expected to hold events that raise environmental awareness of local population, and the adoption of measures aimed at regulation of cattle grazing on the degraded plot.

Project sustainability
After the completion of the project, the work of is being continued by the Jamaat Ecoles Leilek and Leskhoz, pasture committees and local administrations. Leskhoz provided assistance in caring of demonstration area and provide the saplings.
Rehabilitated plots will be linked by the corridors.
All the activities will ensure the long term sustainability of the project.
