Although the project has no direct actions for gender issues, it has indirect positive effects to the women especially, as by having additional income from tourists women can improve their social conditions at their families.
Chohan prepared booklets and calendars about recovery of local park Kara Oi, that helped to raised awareness of local people and also guests about the actions took part there.
Replication of project activities
Conservation of rare species and forms ways "ex situ" deserves special attention. However, in Kyrgyzstan due to insufficient funding of this direction is developed very poorly. This requires the active involvement of the public, NGOs and local Jamaat - in the implementation of direct actions for conservation of biodiversity parks, implementation of programs for environmental education and education of the local population and issuing popular scientific ecological literature.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Demonstrational solar panel shows people how renewable energy is used to maintain the whole park and help environment take benefit from it. proejct results were covered in mass-media (including joint article with Grudfos company).
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Rennovation of the irrigation system and creation of nerseries bacame first step on the way to restoration of the "Kara-Oi" dendrological park after many years of destruction.
This enspired local people, who have got chance to improve ecological conditions at the territory, as they use it for eco-tourism purposes.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Restoraition of the park led to income generation, received from excursion services, tourists, as well as the selling of seedlings and expansion of the area of the nursery.
Planning non gef grant
Scaling up of the project is also under implementation. The project is continued through COMDEKS funding by NGO Kara Oi Bagy.
Policy Influence
The project also contributed to poverty reduction, since in the course of its implementation among local residents - first of all, family members of service staff of the Park with a total number of about 10 people - had a new guaranteed source of income from the sale of seedlings grown in the nursery on the territory of the Park. A more comprehensive use of resources of the Park will also allow local residents to reduce their cost of purchase wood, fruits, berries, and hay, as trees and shrubs products (fruits, juices, jam, jams and other) - ecologically pure product will be in demand among vacationers.
Project sustainability
The restoration of the Park will attract tourists. To this end, the project provides for installation in the Park marks, and tables with the name of the species, information about the history of the Park and etc. to enhance the interest of visitors.
Policy Impact
This project is linked with other UNDP programs, for example, "Restoring riparian forests of Kyrgyzstan", "Implementation of joint forest management" (CFM), "The introduction of new forestry practices" supported by ARIS and others.
Capacity - Building Component
Training was conducted for the local population on practical skills of restoration of the Park, planting, care and protection from pests and diseases by organic way.
Notable Community Participation
Young people were involved in realization of the proejct via educational events, organized in local school. Excursions and field works were organized for the groups of the most intrerested children.

Project Results
? In the Park there is reconstructed 1 well - installed energy-efficient pump, powered by solar batteries.
? The uninterrupted supply of water saving unique biodiversity of the Park on the territory of about 38 hectares
? On-site is a nursery was established with a total area of at least 0.5 ha for growing seedlings of species of plants listed in the Red book of the KR.
? The local population (up to 10 people, including pensioners, women and children) receive a salary from cultivation of a landing material and other activities of the Park.
? The local population received skills on the cultivation of red book species of plants and the establishment of nurseries.
? As a result of the project there was restored areas damaged thickets of sea-buckthorn on the coast of Issyk-Kul lake in the vicinity of the Park.
? There was updated 1 information Board and delivered more than 30 plates and signs with the aim of raising the interest of tourists and vacationers to visit the Park.
? In the newspapers, there were published articles.
? Information booklets, 200 pieces of manuals on methodology of creation of the nursery, 200 PCs. posters were developmed and published.
? One documentary was shot on energy effeciency where a short scenario from the project was also taken tot he video.
