The attracted specialists prepared a report with recommendations on habitat restoration of wetland birds of lake Issyk-Kul in the area of oil pollution of the Bay of the city of Balykchy.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
In the process of the project elaboration the local community of the Balykchy city as well as civil society organizations, women groups and city authority were involved so that they are very interested in the given project and will all participate in its implementation. Income of the local population strongly depends on Issyk-Kul lake and integrity ofits ecosystem. Solution of the problem with oil pollution in Balykchy bay will allow local people to use the territory for tourism.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Local community Balykchy, youth, women's groups, schools and the city administration are active supporters of the initiative and were involved at all stages of its development.
During 2011-2012. RP Danko holds with residents quarters adjacent to the site of contamination, as well as youth groups share recovery shrubby areas along the lake.
Policy Impact
Some members of the Project Member Committee will be the representatives of the local authorities: from City Hall, City Council etc., That will increase the opportunities to reach the policy as well as local communities.

The next project is being implemented by the funding support of COMDEKS programme and co-financed by SGP.

The planned full project proposal was developed and accepted by SGP. Next CBO is implementing this project on the same territory for the conservation of Issyk-Kul lake as a medium-sized project.

The sustainability is ensured through the project undertaken by another CBO working as a continuation of the project of PF Danko.
They are currently restoring the water poisned by petrol.

Webpage about oil pollution was created on the base of the DANKO's website. Leaflet was issued and distributed among eco-NGOsand mass media representatives.

A full project proposal was developed and focused on conservation of Issyk-Kul lake from these oil products and restoration of the degraded lands.
Developed Avenue and created a website about the project www.danko.kg with the aim of attracting public attention to the problem.

Together with the OSCE Centre in Bishkek a round table was held with interested partners in addressing and identification of stakeholders ' contributions.
Another local CBO is undertaking the next step with full project proposal and implementing project.
