Applying traditional knowledge in green development (Biodiversity Congress of the Guyana Shield 2013)
This project aims to facilitate 51 community members (mostly Indigenous from 6 different countries in the Guyana Shield: Venezuela, Columbia, Guyana, French Guyana, Brazil and Suriname) to participate in the 3rd Biodiversity Congress organized with the Guyana Shield Facility. During this congress, they will be able to present, participate and network among other community members.

Capacity - Building Component
During the congress, there will be presentations of various experts and community members. The presentations will focus on networking between the different countries, innovative technologies being used, etc. In this way, the community members will be able to expand their knowledge regarding the traditional uses of natural resources.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Of the 51 community members facilitated to participate in this congress, 90% is of Indigenous communities. Only from Suriname, will there be some participation from Maroon communities as well.
