The idea of the project is to promote the protection of the Tien-Shan maral by involving local residents in the census of the maral, equipping the Reserve's feeders for maral, as well as providing the Reserve and local residents possibility of self-funding measures to preserve the maral through development of eco-tourism and subsidiary farm of the Reserve.

Project sustainability
As the project will train the group of public rangers they will take a good care of the Reserve in the future and ensure the long term sustainability. Improved infrostructure will attract more tourists and drive the development of ec-tourism in the village. Thus the villagers will have additional income through selling of domestic products, drinking and souvenirs as well as providing services like guiding etc.,
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
Local population are interested in the realization of the project as it will be an additional source of income. The realization of the project will involve local communities in the buffer zone of Naryn Zapovednik. Local people, especially women, will be able to sell their felt products, and food products to tourists.
