The idea of the project is to reduce up to 80 tons of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by demonstrating two innovative technologies ? technologies for house insulation and energy efficient stoves for the local population.

Project Characteristics and Results

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

38 master that were taught during the practical trainings will help to improve the energy efficiency of the houses of other village households as well as teach other wishing maters to be able to construct and insulate their own houses. Thus the project will contribute to the improvement of living conditions of villagers.

Capacity - Building Component

4- trainings on energy efficiency were conducted 2- practical trainings on insulation of houses were conducted, in total 23 masters were taught, 2-racticel trainings on construction of energy efficiency stoves, in total 15 masters were taught All the masters were awarded a certificate after the completion of 10 days practical trainings and given a set of necessary equipments as a initial start of their work.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

In two villages Kyzyl-Tuu and Kara-Suu the meetings with local population were conducted to give a general information about the project and the ways of using the energy efficient technologies for 50 households of the neighboring houses. In the last day of the practical trainings there was an Open Day organized to enable the local community to come and see the insulated house and the constructed energy effective stove. The documentary on DVD was shot and presented in the Naryn Regional TV Channel, a copy of the documentary was provided to GEF SGP office. An article was published in the local kyrgyz language newspaper Ayil Demi which covers all the regions op of the country. Inovative Financial Mechanisms

Information about project was widely covered in mass-media of Naryn province and social networks.

Notable Community Participation

Local masters were taught in the practical trainings on "Energy Effective Technologies", "Construction of Energy Effective Stoves" and "Insulation Houses". They will up-scale the project by disseminating the knowledge and skills obtained during the trainings and applying the practices in the real life.

Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples

More than 250 Indigenous Peoples were involved on project realization. They were informed about the perspective usage of house insulation and energy effective stoves as the use of these technologies the local community can save $ 8,000 per year.

Replication of project activities

Project results were widely spreaded in Naryn province via dessemination of experience on building energy-efficiet stoves.

Planning non gef grant

Public Foundation "CAMO Alatoo" is replicating same project in Issuk-Kul region with the support of GIZ/CEEBA. Also PF "CAMO Alatoo" is working on dissemination of energy efficient technologies through the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Gender Focus

The number of participating community members was 250 in which 150 men and 100 women.

Project sustainability

The overall influence of the project is that there will be local, energy efficient stoves and insulated houses in the village. This will reduce the costs for energy and save household budgets. According to the past experiences it is seen that the interest to these energy effective stoves are increasing among the villagers of remote mountain regions. This mean, that all the masters who attended the trainings and learned to construct EE stoves and Insulate the houses will be in demand, thus disseminating the project results as well as getting additional income.

The proejct had good public resonance, as installed equipment allowed to demonstrate possibilities of use Renewable sources of energy in conditions of high-mountain oblasts of Naryn province.

Project Results

The main goal of the project is reducing of the CO2, and the following results are the approach to the overall objectives. The project is currently under implementation and has following results:
- Project Management Committee is established with relevant representatives of CBOs,local population, authorities etc.,
- 2 practical trainings on "Construction of Energy Effective Stoves" are conducted with 15 masters taught,
- 2 practical trainings on "Insulation of Houses" are conducted with 23 masters taught,
- a training on construction of efficient 'ochok' (traditional outside/street stoves mainly for cooking)
The documentary was shot and aired in the Naryn Regional Channel, a copy was provided jointly with reports to the GEF,SMP KR office,
- An article was published in the Kyrgyz Language national newspaper cowering all the regions of KR,
