The name of the Mediterranean monk seal and due to its location which Foca has many historical and natural values that is one of 305 Significant Nature Area in Turkey and 15 Private Environmental Protection Area.
The ecosystem services of Foca contribute $37 million to Turkey?s economy. The development of this contribution will be possible with the protection of natural values and the realization of sustainable practices in fishing, tourism and agriculture. Also Management Plan of Foca Private Environmental Protection Area set down towards providing them to methods and activities.
On the one hand protection of traditional culture and biodiversity, on the other hand areas of fishing, tourism and agriculture for the development of the local economy in Foca should be dealt with. Because wrong applications of agriculture and tourism affect negative to marine ecosystem and traditional fishing. The Management Plan of Foca Private Environmental Protection Area would like to gather under the framework of a single organization. If considering these rights of the nature carry out, the development of the local economy and the continuity of local culture will continue to provide. To raise awareness on producers and consumers of Foca and in order to spread knowledge will be organized Meeting of ?Balance of Flavors: Agriculture, Tourism and Fishery? between 12 to 14 of April 2013 in Foca.
