03.12.2013 is the date of effective of the new Metropolitan Municipality Law. This legistlation restructures the rural areas managment. In the metropolitan municipalities, rural areas villages are going to replaced by the status of neighboorhood. That also means it will be under the authority and the service area of the municipality. In this respect, threats and risks on their agricultural lands, common feeding ground and wetlands of 18200 villages in Turkey, will be raised dramatically. However, this new status also brings advantegeous. The need for communication and evaluation of the situation arises from the regulations, the experts, advocates, NGOs and the former zuthorities and the stakeholders of the rural areas will come together. Two days "Rural Planning and Management Workshop" will serve to go through the developments in legistlations, rural planning and management examples from Turkey and from other countries, and possible solutions to the problems generated in this process will be discussed with all stakeholders.
