FSM: Community-based Integrated Marine Protected Area (MPA) and Pearl Farming Development Project at Pakin Atoll in Pohnpei State, Federated States of Micronesia.
Pakin Atoll is consisted of a local population of about 70 (including 40 children), who have been experiencing poverty and relying heavily on limited natural resources of mainly reef fish, coconuts and other crops like taros and bananas. This community-based resource management project is to improve Pakin Atoll through the establishment of Marine Protected Area (MPA) to conserve fishery stock and black pearl farms to improve livelihood.
