Raise environmental awareness among school students in Palestine through the adoption of the green school model.
This project aims to increase environmental awareness among students, teachers and staff members (males and females) of Anabta Girls School in Tulkarem (Governmental) , kufer Zebad Mixed school / Tulkarem ?Governmental? and Mar-Yousif Boys School in Nablus (private) through increasing awareness and understanding of individuals towards environmental issues and disseminating environmental friendly practices among students and other targeted members including the production of organic and healthy food through applying organic and environmental friendly farming practices.
The project will address the adoption of green school model as a tool for achieving the sustainable environmental development and thus contributing to improved life quality for the Palestinian community. The project will mainly address the influence of human activities on disturbing and harming local environment, natural resources and environmental heritage in Palestine. and it will propose and introduce environmental friendly practices to minimize these harmful consequences.
At each of the three targeted schools, the students and their supervisors will found school Eco-Clubs that will involve active and creative students and will take the responsibility to apply awareness and educational activities for other students and other schools in their towns.
The project will be implemented over 10 months and it will mainly include the following main activities:
Enhance the capacity of students and teachers on Environmental leadership and awareness
Establish 3 Eco-Gardens at Targeted Schools
Establish 3 pilot organic farms including compost preparation units
Found 2 Eco-Clubs and 3 groups of environmental leaders from students and teachers
Organize 2 Eco-Exhibitions and establish 3 eco-libraries at the targeted schools
Organize public cleaning campaigns inside and around the targeted schools
Produce awareness publications.
