SHARING PRACTICES AND KNOWLEDGE PRODUCTS WITH STAKEHOLDERS IN THE CONTEXT OF GEF FOCAL AREAS
Background
The GEF/SGP Iran has been able to take effective steps in empowerment of non-governmental organizations, local groups and the interested people in conservation of environment in Iran during the past twelve years, and has produced extensive results through focusing on participatory, community-based approaches, sustainable conservation, supporting community initiatives, expanding inter-sectoral cooperation and partnership, and emphasizing on protection of the endangered species. It is obvious all these supported projects during the years have had many achievements, lessons learned, and experiences that can be very effective for the quality of future programmes.
At this stage of the programme, networking and to share the model of work internally for upscaling and mainstreaming as well as producing documents to share the work of projects globally is crucial. The tool for this work is compiled knowledge material of various thematic and geographic clusters as well as crosscutting issues like SGP projects approach to gender, involving with children, marginalized groups like tribal people with a vast knowledge in community conserved areas which have been demonstrated in various projects of the programme. The present project aims to collect the information of the implemented projects to compile and produce knowledge in various following outputs:
?Developing 20 Case Studies in three thematic clusters and two crosscutting issues as outlined below. This work will be according to case study and the upscaling questionnaires provided by SGP Global team and through reviewing project reports and documents as we?ll as interviewing the local groups or members of the grantee CSOs and selected partners
-Wildlife and Biodiversity
-Eco-agriculture and Integrted Pest Mangement (IPM)
-Indigeneous Community Conserved Areas (ICCAs)
-Gender and Environment
-Children and Environment
?Producing and printing four journals in English on the following topics:
-?women and environment?,
-?children and environment? or ?next generation and environment?
-?ownership in community based conservation of environment?
-?the concepts, process and lessons learned of empowerment of local groups?;
?Producing and printing two newsletters on the following thematic clusters:
-eco-agriculture
-biodiversity clusters
?Producing15 information sheets to enriche the existing data bank of local products of the supported projects
?Producing 20 photo-stories of the projects/stories
?Assisting five groups of grantees active in the field of WOMEN and ENVIRONMENT to apply for International Awards;
?Networking among each cluster and inbetween clusters for policy influence
?Developing a draft of SGP 10 year?s experience book
