“Promotion of small-scale alternative and energy-efficient technologies among the rural population Nosiri Khusrav, Shaartuz, Kabadien and Kumsangir districts in Khatlon region."
1.1 Project Summary
The project will be implemented among rural population of the project targeted areas and that there will be installed a demonstration models. We hope that over time, their efficiency and accessibility necessarily will gain the trust of the local population.
Project is aimed on solution of the following problems:
1) Unsustainable using of natural resources is often associated with established consumer attitude of the local population to these resources.
2) Using low-efficiency technologies, such as for heating houses in winter, increases the amount of consumption of energy resources (coal, wood, gas). Promoting available alternative and energy-efficient technologies, using renewable energy sources and/or using energy as maximum as possible effectively, will have a positive impact not only to the welfare of the local population, but also reduces the emission of the greenhouse gases (CO2). Also will be decreased anthropological impact on environment.
3) Significant problem is also the lack of information about available alternatives and energy-efficient technologies.

Problem description and reasons for its appearance.
As a result of different factors in all regions of the country there is a shortage of electricity and gas. The deficit is most acute in the winter, especially in the rural places, and it affects the most vulnerable and the poor population. People have to prepare firewood, cutting forests. Cutting down of trees and shrubs high rates causes to greater environmental degradation in rural areas, which again affect to the possibility of the peoples stable income.
To improve the situation can be by supplying the population with gas. However, it is not possible due to a lot of reasons.
But it is possible to reduce the consumption of firewood by local communities.
One of the ways to mitigate this problem is the dissemination of alternative and energy-efficient technologies among the rural population, which allows the use of alternative energy sources (solar, wind, water, etc.) and using more effectively existing local firewood.
Problems on introduction and dissemination of these technologies are the lack of information about these technologies, the lack of confidence of the population to the new technologies and the absence of a sources and accesses to purchase these technologies.

For solution of these problems project expects:
? Demonstrate the local population that these technologies work and give real results, easy to use and using of these equipments does not require any significant additional skills;
? Promote the most simple and low cost technologies, which can be affordable to majority rural people;
? Organize and support with necessary equipment small- businesses, where can be produced energy efficient equipments.
