Alternate/Renewable Energy for Sustainable Land and Resource Management
The Juanpur Valley is situated in a very remote hilly terrain of Uttarakhand and due to its location, the area is very backward. Basic facilities are not available. The communities belong to scheduled cast and other backward casts only and are marginal farmers. The land holding of these farmers seldom exceeds one hectare. The fields are scattered and the land consolidation is not very common practice. Migration for employment is very common. The area falls Earthquake Prone Zone Five and is prone to natural calamities like cloud burst and landslides, etc. The project focuses to demonstrate innovative approaches to enhance livelihood opportunities of poor through sustainable management of micro hydro power watermills, micro watermills and biogas plants in selected project areas.
