Policy Impact

The NGO has networking with the following organization like CAPART (TRC) mysore, Karuna Trust, CCD MAdhurai, Zilla Panchayat, etc which will provide better synergy to convince the local government officials to adopt the programme on the government level.

Capacity - Building Component

The capacity building of the marginalized communities especially ladies- 2200. Both soft and hard skills will be improved for 2200 ladies. Training will be given to mason for the construction of smokeless energy efficient ovens.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

The main aim of the project is to reduce the pressure on the local reserved forest areas, carbon mitigation, and ensure better health and quality of life for the people. The project provides scope impacting the Global environment by 4 different ways- Environment (reducing carbon-emission/CHG emissions), Forest Conservation (Reducing Deforestation), Climate change and Health (through removing the oven smoke in kitchen). This will provide self employment to beneficiaries and help in increasing their earning capacities.

Gender Focus

The project focuses on the most vulnerable, marginalized communities and BPL women members of the society. There will be 55-60% reduction in the demand of forest for fire wood. Smoke less energy efficient ovens will be introduced for improving health and nutrition standards on the people (women, children).

Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples

The project will encourage participation, decision- making, partnerships, and networking, sharing of cost of both local and indigenous expertise.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

Village Development Samiti in each of the village will be formed where opinion makers of the village like teachers, Anganwadi workers, ANMs, SHG leaders will be involved in developing village resource plans by using tools like PRA etc.

Project Results

* 1000 cook stoves constructed by reducing the consumption in firewood comes down by around 55 to 60% and reducing 4950 mt of CO2 emission.
* Skill development for livelihood improvement: a) Provided 10 tailoring and embroidery machines to 10 trained un-employed women from the project area b) youth (both boys and girls) involved in motor rewinding, mobile repairing, computer-DTP, plumbing assitant etc. The average monthly income earned by them is around Rs.3500 to Rs.5000/- per month generating over 12000 man days of employment. Projected per capital income per annum Rs.20,40,000/ per annum.
* 3 each of the village ladies were given training in Home making assistants and Home Nursing assistants and were readily employed in the nearby city earning on an average of Rs.4000 to Rs.5000/- per month
* 10 village unskilled youths were given on job training on masonary and were since got employed as mason assistants in the construction works earning Rs.8000 to Rs9000/- per months. They are absorbed by the constructer.
* 3 each of village youths were given On Job Training on electrical wiring and plumbing under expert qualified technicians and were since absorbed as their assistants earning Rs.5000/- per month.
