Scaling up of goat rearing in poor marginalized women SHGs for better livelihoods and fodder introduction
The project focuses on economic empowerment of women, conservation and promotion of native species both in grasses and livestock.
The rural women from 10 villages have already given their willingness to undergo training and enter into goat rearing. The project would institutionalize the program through the federation. The core committee of the beneficiaries can manage the assets and the venture as a long time livelihood measure.
The targeted villages are predominantly agricultural villages with no other occupation and means of income generation. The literacy rate is also at low and most of the rural women are farm workers and have no other source of income. The farm lands are in the hands of few in every village and number of landless labors is on the rise resulting to migration and family disharmony. This project will address to solve the local conflicts in the areas.
The Farm workers especially the women have no other employment opportunity than working in the fields is the said villages. As usual the farm work depends upon seasonal fluctuations and the women are left with minimum work less income, more idle hours etc. To empower the women in the targeted villages. This will help them realize their goals. Introduction of local fodder species to augment better health. Imparting training would help better local capacities for future.
