Community Livelihood Improvement Through Integrated Environmental management Best Practices (CLIMB)
This project aims to build capacities and empower communities to take a lead role in effectively managing their forests and environment for maximum output. The action will promote and ensure best management practices in the exploitation of forest resources for sustainable development. In addition, the action also embraces skills and knowledge transfer on agricultural best practices for increased agricultural production and productivity, which consequently translate into increased food security and increased household income. On the other hand the action aims at addressing indiscriminate and uncontrolled use of forest resources through the participatory community-led approach. By this approach communities will have greater ownership and say over their forests and forest products, hence reducing negative impact of environmental degradation.
The project also seeks to promote an integrated and holistic approach to solving environmental issues through interlinked approaches in addressing issues of poverty, ignorance and hunger simultaneously.

Gender Focus
About 8095 people are expected to directly benefit from this project . The men have been taking the lead in the project implementation as most the areas are male dominant areas. however, women were involved in the consultative process and sensitization events for their input. 55% of the project beneficiaries are women. The provision of improve stoves to the communities is of particular interest to the women. This component is anticipated to improve the lives of women as they will now need less firewood to cook with, meaning less time and energy for the women to go fetch firewood. the health of women will also improve from inhaling less smoke as the improved stoves emit much less smoke unlike the traditional stoves currently in existence in these communities.
