It is inferred that disseminating relevant and useful information on environmental best practices if utilized, can result in better crop yield and more sustainable exploitation of natural resources. This in turn can translate into increase income and better livelihood for the communities.

The environmental issues raised are of concern to both men and women as they equally exploit natural resources , though in different ways. The public awareness campaign thus targeted both men and women. In many of the venues, women outnumbered men in the audience. The school environment clubs also include both boys and girls and they were equally exposed to the materials presented during training.

This project aims to bridge the gap of low media publicity on environmental issues across the nation. specific objectives include to increase public awareness on environmental thematic areas in a bid to encourage local community participation in protecting the environment. a national caravan procession addressing bushfires, illegal logging, land degradation and over exploitation of marine resources was carried out covering all regions of the country. meetings to disseminate the message were held in public places and the events draw in thousands of community members. In all venues, they were welcomed by the highest local authorities including governors and chiefs; an indication of the weight attached to the project by the local communities. The large crowds showed marked enthusiasm and curiosity as evidenced by the multiple questions they asked at the meetings. In each venue, the community leaders pledged their commitment and moral support to realizing the goals outlined.

With activities geared toward increasing awareness and exposing issues pertaining to the environment, it is anticipated that knowledge gain by the community members will be put to practice. The benefits gain as a result of these practices, would keep communities motivated to carry on the best practices, thus sustaining the gains registered so far. The Environmental Magazine will carry paid advertisements from other sectors and this will be a source of revenue for the organisation.

With the main goal of increasing awareness of environmental reporters and local communities on conservation and protection of natural resources, capacity building was a big part of this project. to increase visibility and prioritize environmental issues for intervention purposes, 40 editors from various newspapers and radio received training on how to handle environmental news articles. one website launched to serve as a virtual platform for various stakeholders for information sharing and to generate discussions. 80 environment club members from 8 schools orientated on a manual designed to build capacities and promote environmental best practices.
