Sustainable Agriculture and Community Empowerment for Rural Women in Ti Colon/Barre St. Joseph - Phase 1
This project will be implemented in two phases with the overall objectives being to: (i) reduce soil erosion by implementing a an agro forestry program by the end of the project; (ii) develop the business capacity of the group so that they will implement an income generating agro-processing program; (iii) significantly increase community participation in project implementation and to ensure that the benefits are shared within the community by the end of the project; (iv) identify other available income generating agricultural activities for the community; and (v) introduce organic pesticides to farmers who will be targeted for this project. These objectives will be achieved by implementing strategies which will lead to capacity development and organizational strengthening; the reversal and reduction of soil erosion; and the development of the platform for long-term agro-processing.
