The land use for agricultural purposes and the exploitation of wood have been the primary reasons for the disappearance of forests in the country. The growth in production of cashew and timber procurement from un asian country has accentuated this trend. In areas occupied by animist population demand to protect the forests has grown. Currently only community forests can be protected. The demand from populations in creating community forests has grown since the military coup of 2012. This project aims to support the population in detention, the power on the sustainable management of their forest resources which constitute the only means of subsistence in that region of the country.

The project has four main activities: ( i ) the construction and adoption of stoves with reduced wood consumption - the beneficiary will be able to build it and rebuild it whenever necessary . The raw material used in construction is abundant and free. The advantages in terms of saving time and labor to women is considerably so this stove will be adopted . ( ii ) introduction of beehives that will fivefold improved output and improve the quality of honey. These hives will allow the beekeeper to collect honey without killing the bees or risk of burning the forest. Part of the production saled will be used to increase every year the number of hives . (iii) Creation of a community forest - Across the country, after independence the people were gradually leaving to manage their forests in accordance with traditional laws. The traditional management has been replaced almost entirely by a State management that is constantly violated. The uncontrolled salle of wood to the worldwide consumer has contributed to the degradation of forests has been accented with immediate impacts, which in turn has led the people demand the creation of community forests in order to be able to ensure their needs minimal (firewood, fruits, wood, tables, hunting, water)

The project will support people in knowledge of the laws that manage national forests letting them know they rights and obligations. The project will also support the creation of community forest through the drafting and adoption of a management law (based on the sustainable management of traditional law)

The project will support the generation of income through concrete activity such as the production of honey and palm oil. The nursery forest scents will also continue producing after the end of the project (in the country the private nurseries and the state are dying)

This area is quite isolated due ace but roads (roads and telephone). Not engaged in trade and money is not circulating. The area is however rich in forest products and agriculture that are not traded. The introduction of a cash credit will allow beneficiaries (women) from 7 villages the exhaustion of their products by growing their revenues

Women will benefit mainly credit since they are the main labor force in this region of the country. It is expected that this support has an impact on the quality of life of children (food, health and education)
